Forza Horizon 3's Blizzard Mountain Expansion To Feature New Location, New Cars

Forza Horizon 3's upcoming expansion will be taking players to a wintry driving wonderland.
Blizzard Mountain, due out Dec. 13, features a new campaign set in alpine mountains as well as eight new vehicles (including a new barn find) and new mountain-specific racing events. Players will also be able to rack up another 500 points worth of Gamerscore in the DLC (the full list of new achievements can be found here). The new mountain area includes an extreme sports snow park and frozen lake for players to test their winter driving skills on.
The new vehicles are built for snowy conditions and include:
  • 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX
  • 1965 Ford F-100 Flareside Abatti Racing Trophy Truck
  • 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group 4
  • 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Group B
  • 2016 Nissan Titan Warrior Concept
  • 2016 RJ Anderson #37 Polaris RZR-Rockstar Energy Pro 2 Truck
  • 2016 Subaru #199 WRX STI VT15r Rally Car
While Turn10 did not list a standalone price for the Blizzard Mountain expansion, it is included in the Forza Horizon 3 season pass, which covers two expansions. Players who purchased the Ultimate Edition can pick up Blizzard Mountain at a $10 discount before the end of the year.

Reader Discussion – Are You Picking Up Final Fantasy XV?

Well, gang, it's nearly here. After more than a decade in development, Final Fantasy XV will be released tomorrow. Reviews are already out and our very own Andrew Reiner seemed to like the game quite a bit:
Final Fantasy XV is unlike any RPG or open-world experience I’ve played before. It succeeds and struggles in finding its unique stance, but a few problematic designs don’t hold it back from being a hell of a journey. Just days after playing it, I find myself reflecting on it fondly.
The thoughts of that damn car are recessed and blanketed by Noctis’ journey and some of the stunning moments that unfolded within it. I wasn’t a fan of Final Fantasy XIII’s sequels, but I hope Square returns with another XV or a similarly designed sequel to iron out the rough spots. There’s a solid foundation here that begs to be explored further.
As someone who isn't very into Final Fantasy (outside of VI, IX, and X), I'm looking forward to giving this interactive road trip a spin. It looks weird and  fantastic enough to be my kind of thing.
What about you? Are you picking up the game? Excited to try it? Cautiously optimistic? Couldn't care less?

Super Mario Maker

When Super Mario Maker was first teased, it seemed like a dream come true. Players could finally make their own platforming levels using aesthetics from four quintessential Mario games. The game wasn't anchored to the ruleset of those original titles, allowing for creations that bordered on bizarre or frighteningly difficult.
This smash hit is finally going portable on the 3DS. I got to play a few levels of this port, which played just as smoothly as they did on the Wii U, even if a few features from the console version didn't make the cut.
The big draw here is new challenge levels Nintendo has cooked up for this port. These new courses come with medal objectives that, if met, allow you to customize the level you just beat. This seems like a great stepping stone for those who want to dip their toes into making their own courses rather than jumping in with a blank slate. All the features from the post-release Wii U patches that added checkpoints and keys are available, so players can create complex levels easily.
There are some things that don't carry over from the console version, particularly deliberate online sharing. Instead of relying on the cumbersome course ID system which required you to enter a long alphanumeric code to play specific stages, the 3DS version uses StreetPass to allow players to share their designs locally. Sharing can also be done via local wireless and levels shared can be edited by multiple people. So while you can't share your levels with people across the world, friends are now be able to play each other's courses more deliberately. Stages that were uploaded to the Wii U version will be playable on the 3DS, though the only search function shown so far is for recommended courses.
Some of the key features that made the Wii U version shine are notably absent from this port. Besides the online sharing, Amiibo support was also dropped leaving this version a little toothless by comparison. These figures gave access to the Mystery Mushroom which would transform Mario into other Nintendo characters. With over 88 Amiibos supported in the previous, the lack of the extra content will be felt by anyone who used the Wii U release.
Whether you want this game or not will come down to its portability. This version of the game is for people who have inspiration strike while they're on the go, whether it's traveling by plane or just being in a different room than your TV. The engine used to create levels is the same as the Wii U, simplistic yet allowing for nearly endless customization. Unfortunately many of the bells and whistles from the console aren't making it to this port, but the base game that captivated so many people is still intact. Being able to create courses anywhere should result in some awe-inspiring level design.

Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers

Summary:

The Dynasty Warriors series has become a giant juggernaut brand, spawning eight mainline games and spin-offs. It's been 13 years since the last proper tactics game in this series was released back on the PS2. The confirmed cast so far include Zhao Yun, his best friend Lei Bin, and a mysterious girl named Lixia. Combat takes place on a standard grid, though enemy units are grouped up into larger squads instead of strewn about the field like in the mainline games. I don't usually play the main series games but I might check out this deviation from the classic formula. Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers...

PS4 Has Best-Selling Week Since Launch in UK

Sony's PlayStation 4 had its best-selling week since launch in the UK last week, according to sales monitor Chart-Track.
Chart-Track and Sony have not provided any official sales figures, but GamesIndustry reports that PS4 hardware sales were up to over 140,000 units for the week ending November 26, citing sources. That's over 50,000 higher than Xbox One's figures for the same week. Sales of both platforms were likely helped by a raft of retailer discounts on hardware bundles, bringing prices for a current-gen console down to under £200. Hardware sales may have been helped by the relatively recent release of the PS4 Pro, as well as the cheaper PS4 Slim and Xbox One S.
Black Friday discounts also had an effect on software. Games such as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and DriveClub were included in the aforementioned bundles and experienced a surge in sales.
The news is reassuring following disappointing launch sales for Watch Dogs 2, Dishonored 2, Titanfall 2, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which has now dropped to No.2. in the UK charts, falling behind FIFA 17.
